Frequently asked questions
What is Zepbound®?

Zepbound® is a once-weekly FDA-approved Tirzepatide injection for adults ready for meaningful weight loss of 20-50 lbs. Zepbound® is designed for chronic weight management in adults with obesity, or overweight adults with a weight-related condition like high blood pressure or type 2 diabetes. It’s also FDA-approved for moderate-to-severe obstructive sleep apnea in adults with obesity.4

Through AgelessRx, Zepbound® comes with a full, in-house team of expert support that helps make treatment easier to start, with provider-guided dosing, ongoing monitoring, and help navigating dose changes and side effects over time.

How does Zepbound® work?

Zepbound® works on two natural hormone pathways, GIP and GLP-1, that help regulate appetite, fullness, and blood sugar. Hitting both tends to produce a more potent combined effect than either pathway alone. That dual-pathway approach helps quiet hunger, slow digestion, and signal fullness to the brain, making it easier to eat less without feeling like weight loss depends on willpower alone.5

Zepbound® is taken once weekly and works best alongside nutrition changes, regular movement, and provider-guided dose adjustments.

What is the Zepbound® dosing schedule?

Zepbound® starts low and builds gradually. Most people begin with 2.5mg once weekly for four weeks. From there, your provider may increase your dose in 2.5mg steps about every four weeks, based on how your body responds, how well you tolerate treatment, and what dose makes sense for your goals. The goal isn’t to rush to the highest dose as soon as possible, but rather to find the dose that helps support the best progress while keeping treatment manageable.

Usage instructions

Zepbound® is injected once weekly. If prescribed, a US-licensed medical provider will provide a tailored dosage schedule and specific treatment instructions with your care plan.

Important safety information and common side effects

Zepbound® should be used with a reduced-calorie meal plan and increased physical activity. Zepbound® contains Tirzepatide and should not be used with other GLP-1 or GIP receptor agonist medications, or any other products containing Tirzepatide.

Most common side effects

Zepbound® may have the following side effects: nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, abdominal (stomach) pain, headache, fatigue, dyspepsia (indigestion), dizziness, abdominal distension, eructation (belching), hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) in patients with type 2 diabetes, delayed gastric emptying, flatulence (gas buildup), gastroenteritis (an intestinal infection), and gastroesophageal reflux disease (a type of digestive disorder).

Common side effects normally go away on their own within a few days, or up to 2-3 weeks. If you find that any side effects persist for longer than this or get worse over time, stop taking Zepbound® and contact your prescriber as soon as possible.

Other important safety information

Do not use Zepbound® if you are allergic to Tirzepatide, pregnant or breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant or breastfeed. Stop taking Zepbound® at least 2 months before trying to conceive.

Zepbound® should not be used by anyone who has a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC), multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome 2 (MEN2), or pancreatitis.

Tirzepatide may make oral contraceptives less effective. If you’re taking an oral contraceptive, ask your prescriber about potential alternatives before starting Tirzepatide, or switch to a non-oral contraceptive.

Note: This product alone is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Please consult a medical professional to determine whether or not GLP-1 products are appropriate for you.

How Zepbound® works

What is Zepbound®?

(zehp-bownd)
Unlike single-pathway GLP-1s, Zepbound® works on two metabolic pathways, GIP and GLP-1, helping support appetite regulation, fullness, and weight management from more than one angle.5

But the medication is only part of the plan. Our expert in-house care team, with 199+ years of combined clinical expertise, helps you start with clarity, adjust safely, and stay supported as your dose changes, side effects come up, and progress builds, so you get the best results.

Life After GLP-1

AgelessRx researchers are studying how GLP-1 users can best maintain weight loss after stopping medication, with the goal of helping people protect the progress they’ve made and sustain their results for the long term.

The science of Zepbound®

Tirzepatide is the first dual agonist to combine GIP and GLP-1 activity in a single molecule, engaging two natural hormone pathways at once rather than one–a combination that drives greater weight loss and often better tolerability than single-pathway GLP-1s in head-to-head trials.3 5

Beyond weight loss, Tirzepatide has shown real improvements in blood sugar, blood pressure, and cholesterol, with improved heart outcomes in adults with diabetes and cardiovascular disease.8 Broader effects on long-term cellular aging and inflammation are a genuinely promising area of ongoing research.5 11

Frequently asked questions

01 Are Zepbound® and Mounjaro® the same?

Zepbound® and Mounjaro® both contain Tirzepatide, but they are approved for different health goals. Mounjaro® is FDA-approved for adults with type 2 diabetes to help manage blood sugar. Zepbound® is FDA-approved for chronic weight management and for moderate-to-severe obstructive sleep apnea in adults with obesity. Same active ingredient, but different approved uses.4

02 How is Zepbound® different from Wegovy®?

Zepbound® and Wegovy® are both once-weekly FDA-approved weight loss injections, but they use different active ingredients.

Most GLP-1 medications activate a single hormone pathway. Zepbound® activates two–GIP and GLP-1–at once, which is why it tends to produce greater weight loss and often better tolerability in head-to-head trials than single-pathway options.3

03 How much weight can you lose with Zepbound®, and how fast?

In clinical studies, adults taking Zepbound® lost up to 20.9% of their body weight on average, depending on dose.1 For someone starting at 200 pounds, that would mean about 42 pounds.

Many see meaningful movement by 3 months, with most reaching a maintenance dose and steadier progress by 6 months.1

Individual results vary based on dose, lifestyle, treatment consistency, side effects, and how your body responds.

04 Does Zepbound® cause muscle loss?

Some lean-mass loss is a normal part of any significant, relatively fast weight loss, and this isn’t unique to Tirzepatide. It’s also substantially preventable: adequate protein intake and resistance training meaningfully protect muscle during treatment, which is why nutrition guidance is part of your program, not an afterthought.12
