DMAE Firming Gel Rx
An exclusive Rx-compounded 3% gel, combining DMAE with hyaluronic and alpha lipoic acids for firmer, smoother-looking skin—built on the idea that skin ages at the cellular level, not just the surface.
Frequently asked questions
DMAE (dimethylaminoethanol) is a small molecule chemically related to choline, the building block of acetylcholine—the same signaling molecule that tells muscles to contract. Applied topically, DMAE may increase local acetylcholine availability, producing a subtle, ongoing contraction in the small muscles beneath facial skin, which is part of why it’s associated with a firmer look over time.1 3 Results build gradually rather than appearing overnight, which is consistent with a real biological process rather than a surface trick.
Moisten your skin and apply one pump to your face once or twice daily, in the morning and/or night. Spread a thin, even layer over the face and neck, then allow it to absorb before applying other skincare products. Apply SPF 30 or higher daily.
Some users may begin noticing changes within the first few weeks.3 Published research evaluated the visible effects of daily 3% DMAE use over 16 weeks, so consistency matters more than any single application.1
Visible improvements in firmness and fine lines tend to build over a longer period, with clinical research showing continued improvement through about 16 weeks of consistent use.1 3 Because DMAE’s effects build gradually, benefits may lessen if you stop using it regularly.
DMAE Firming Gel is applied topically according to your provider-guided schedule. If prescribed, a US-licensed medical provider will provide a tailored application schedule and specific treatment instructions with your care plan.
Important safety information and common side effects
As with any prescription product, there may be side effects. Generally, the vast majority of side effects will subside after the gradual use of the product over 3-4 weeks. If serious burning or irritation occurs, discontinue use and consult a doctor.
The most common DMAE side effects are itching, burning, redness, and/or peeling. Your skin may be more sensitive to sunlight and weather extremes, such as cold and wind, while using this product. To reduce sensitivity and chance of skin irritation, we recommend using a daily moisturizer with SPF 30 (or higher).
For a complete list of possible side effects, please review Healthline’s DMAE resources.
You should not use topical DMAE if you take any of the following medications: acetylcholinesterase inhibitors (e.g. Aricept, Cognex, Reminyl), anticholinergic medications (used for Parkinson’s Disease, COPD, and overactive bladder), cholinergic medications (used for Alzheimer’s and glaucoma), anticoagulants (e.g. blood thinners).
Additionally, using DMAE concurrently with topical drying agents, such as salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide, can increase drying effects. Do not apply these agents to the same areas as your topical DMAE.
Do not use DMAE if you are pregnant or breastfeeding (including trying to get pregnant or are unsure whether you are pregnant). Additionally, people with an allergy to fish or fish products, DMAE, or any of its ingredients, should not use DMAE.
Note: The above statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

What is DMAE skin care?
Most firming creams stop at surface hydration. But skin aging isn’t a surface problem—it’s a cellular one caused by declining cell signaling, slower collagen turnover, and weaker moisture barrier.5
Clinical-grade, compounded 3% DMAE Firming Gel works at the cellular and surface levels to potentially support firmer-looking face, neck, and under-eye skin.1 3

The science of DMAE skin care products
DMAE is a precursor to acetylcholine—best known as a neurotransmitter, but it acts more broadly as a cell-signaling molecule for skin repair.1 3 That broader signaling role is the leading theory for why this small molecule applied topically produces a visible structural effect over time.
A randomized, placebo-controlled trial of 3% DMAE facial gel, applied daily for 16 weeks, found significant improvement in forehead lines, under-eye fine wrinkles, and lip fullness and shape, with a well-tolerated safety profile.1
Hyaluronic acid adds surface-level hydration with alpha lipoic acid contributing antioxidant support, rounding out a formula built around more than one mechanism.6 7

Frequently asked questions
DMAE Firming Gel contains the 3% DMAE concentration studied in published research, plus hyaluronic and alpha lipoic acids for hydration and antioxidant support.1 6 7 Unlike many cosmetic formulas—where DMAE may be present at a fraction of a percent, well below the range shown to matter in research—the active strength is clearly disclosed, and the treatment requires clinician approval.
DMAE Firming Gel is generally well tolerated with daily use. Mild irritation or redness can occur when starting out and typically subsides within 3 to 4 weeks as skin adjusts. DMAE isn’t recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and your provider may recommend pairing it with a daily SPF 30 or higher to help minimize sensitivity. As with any new topical treatment, check with your provider about what’s right for your skin.
Our Rx-exclusive gel contains Dimethylaminoethanol Bitartrate (DMAE), hyaluronic acid (sodium hyaluronate), alpha lipoic acid, preserved water, and lavender oil. Each plays a different role—DMAE for firmness-related signaling, hyaluronic acid for surface hydration, and alpha lipoic acid for antioxidant support—rather than relying on one active to do everything.1 6 7
Some over-the-counter creams contain DMAE, typically at concentrations well below the 3% used in published research, often without disclosing the actual percentage. Oral forms (tablets or powders) are also sold over the counter, but they aren’t shown to produce the same topical skin-firming effects as a gel or cream applied directly to skin.
