WHAT IS PT-141
When attraction and desire don’t match
- Sexual responsiveness is often thought of as a physical experience, but desire starts in the brain.² ³
- Many men and women still feel attraction and connection, but notice desire doesn’t come as naturally as it once did.⁴
- PT-141 is a peptide that may support brain pathways that initiate arousal and sexual desire.¹
- Unlike therapies that focus on blood flow, PT-141 may act through central signaling pathways involved with sexual responsiveness.⁷
- Designed for men and women seeking support for desire and intimacy.
- Compounded by licensed U.S. pharmacies.
PT-141 BENEFITS
A different approach to sexual wellness
- Most sexual health treatments focus primarily on blood flow and physical response, mainly for men.⁷
- PT-141 works differently by potentially supporting brain pathways involved in arousal and sexual desire for both men and women.¹
- Because desire involves both the mind and body, PT-141 may offer a unique approach for men and women seeking support for intimacy and responsiveness.¹
- Often explored by people who still feel attraction, but want desire and responsiveness to feel more natural again.¹
- Data suggests 25-30% of men don’t achieve their desired outcome with PDE5i medication (like Viagra or Cialis), offering a potential solution.¹³
- Available through clinician-guided care and compounded by licensed U.S. pharmacies.
PT-141 has been approved by the FDA for Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder (HSDD) for premenopausal women, but has not been approved by the FDA for use as sexual enhancement in men or post-menopausal women.

The Science of PT-141
Desire starts in the brain: While sexual wellness is often thought of as a physical experience, desire is influenced by signaling pathways in the brain. This signaling declines with age, impacting libido, desire, and overall brain health.¹⁰ ¹¹
A different approach: PT-141 works on brain pathways involved in sexual desire and arousal. Unlike therapies that primarily focus on blood flow, PT-141 is understood to cross the blood-brain barrier to potentially act on melanocortin pathways associated with sexual responsiveness, helping support the brain-body connection involved in intimacy.¹ ⁷

FAQs
What is PT-141?
PT-141 (Bremelanotide) is a melanocortin receptor agonist peptide that works through the central nervous system to support sexual desire and arousal.1 It acts on pathways in the brain involved in sexual response rather than directly affecting blood flow.7
How does PT-141 work?
PT-141 activates melanocortin receptors in the brain associated with sexual motivation and arousal signaling. This may help enhance sexual interest, responsiveness, and satisfaction in some individuals.1
What benefits can I expect from PT-141?
Individual results vary, and benefits are not guaranteed. Some users may experience increased sexual desire and libido, improved arousal response, enhanced sexual satisfaction, and improved overall mood and motivation.1 2 7

Side effects
The most common side effects of PT-141 include:
- Nausea
- Facial flushing
- Headache
- Fatigue
- Temporary increase in blood pressure
- Mild irritation or sensitivity
These side effects are typically mild and often go away on their own within a week or two.
For a full list of side effects, please review Mayo Clinic’s Bremelanotide resources.
Potential drug interactions
PT-141 may have the following interactions with certain drugs:
- Naltrexone for alcohol or opioid use disorder
May decrease naltrexone levels and efficacy. - PDE-5 Inhibitors (sildenafil, tadalafil)
May increase the risk of priapism or prolonged erection, a medical emergency. - Potassium Citrate and Potassium Chloride
May increase risk of ulcerative colitis or stenotic lesions. - Antibiotics and Anti-Tuberculosis Agents
May decrease peak antibiotic levels.
Please read the full list of possible drug interactions with PT-141 (Bremelanotide).
Other important safety information
PT-141 is intended for adults only. Your prescriber may ask you for additional information if you have cardiovascular risk factors or severe liver or kidney disease.
Do not use PT-141 if you have uncontrolled high blood pressure or if you have significant heart dysfunction (ejection fraction <50% or NYHA Class 3 or greater).
Do not use PT-141 if you have an active cancer, or if you have had cancer within the last two years.
Do not use PT-141 if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant or breastfeed. If you become pregnant during treatment, discontinue immediately and consult your OB.
Though rare, allergic reactions to PT-141 are still possible. If you notice any shortness of breath or swelling around your face, tongue, or throat after using PT-141, stop use and contact emergency services right away.
As with any prescription medication, the dose prescribed is for you and you alone. Do not, under any circumstances, allow anyone else to use your PT-141.
