B12/MIC Injection Product Guide

While vitamin B12 may boost energy, the combination of Methionine, Inositol, and Choline (MIC) add lipotropic properties that may help break down fat in the liver. Together, B12/MIC may promote fat metabolism and assist in overall weight loss—all while boosting energy and reducing fatigue.

Quick tips

Here are some simple steps to help you get the most from each dose:

  • Try taking B12/MIC around the same time
  • Always leave your vials at room temperature
  • Use with a reduced-calorie meal plan and exercise
  • Take with or without food
  • Rotate injection sites at least every week
  • Be sure to properly discard your vials and syringes

Following these steps may help you experience the most optimal benefits while minimizing your risk of side effects.

Getting started

When you first receive your B12/MIC, ensure proper storage guidelines to maintain the quality of the solution.

Follow the instructions for properly drawing and administering your injection.

Always dose according to your doctor-guided titration schedule.

Storage

When your prescription arrives, check that the contents are properly sealed and undamaged. Be sure to keep your medication in its original container to maintain the utmost quality.

Store at room temperature (between 68°F and 77°F) and away from direct light, like in your pantry. Avoid storing B12/MIC in areas with excessive heat or humidity, like your laundry room or utility closet. Always keep B12/MIC where your children or pets can’t reach it.

All vials indicate the date by which the medication should be used. Please use the medication before the beyond-use date (BUD).

Once you pierce the vial, the solution will last for 28 days. You must discard pierced vials after 28 days, even if there is still some solution remaining—this applies to all multi-dose vials (MDVs).

Always dispose of your used needles and syringes in an FDA-approved sharps disposal container. If you do not have one, you can purchase inexpensive options from your local pharmacy.

You may safely travel with your vials so long as the above conditions are met while traveling. It may be best to travel with a medication case to ensure that B12/MIC does not get too hot while traveling.

How to draw your solution

Before your first use, take the time to review how to properly draw your solution.

Next, make sure that you’re drawing the correct amount of solution according to your titration schedule. Your current dose will always be displayed on your vial—use this as a reminder before you begin.

It’s important to sterilize the top of the vial with an alcohol wipe each time before drawing up the solution.

How to measure units on your syringe

If you’re new to intramuscular injections, follow this quick guide to understand the measurements on your syringe.

Your weekly doses are measured in milliliters (ml) to units. Before getting started, check to see how many units are in your weekly dose.

The label on your syringe shows units. Each unit represents 0.01ml, so every 10 units represents 0.1ml.

Each small line on the syringe represents 1 unit, and each large line represents 10 units. So, if your dose calls for 20 units, simply draw your solution up to the line that reads “20.”

If your weekly dose calls for a measurement not clearly labeled on the syringe (like 25 units), pay close attention to the markers between the large lines when drawing up your dose. There may be even smaller measurement lines on the syringe that are more difficult to see. Count these carefully as you draw up your dose to ensure the most accurate measurement.

How to administer your injection

B12/MIC is delivered via intramuscular injection, which means you’ll inject the solution into an area of dense muscle, such as your deltoid muscle (shoulder) or outer thigh. If you’re new to intramuscular injections, take the time to review how to properly administer your injection before proceeding.

As a general rule, you should grip the syringe with your dominant hand, and grasp the injection site with the other hand. Hold the syringe with your thumb and index finger, with the barrel of the syringe resting on your middle finger.

Intramuscular injections should always be delivered at a 90° angle (or, straight in).

Gently pull the skin around the injection site with your free hand so that it’s taut. Next, use the motion of your wrist to swiftly deliver the injection while the muscle is relaxed to reduce any pain or tenderness. Hold the syringe straight while using your index finger to slowly and gradually push the plunger down. Once the solution has been fully administered, remove the needle at the same angle.

To avoid irritation, try switching injection sites on each subsequent use. For example, if you last injected into your right thigh, you can switch to your left thigh. You can take B12/MIC at any time of day, but try to be as consistent as possible to ensure the best outcomes.

After you’ve administered the injection, discard the needle and syringe in an FDA-approved sharps container. Never reuse the needle of the syringe once it’s been used.
