How it works
FAQs
What is Wegovy®?
Wegovy® is an FDA-approved injectable prescription medication to assist adults with BMI >27 lose weight and keep the weight off. The injection comes in the form of a pen for subcutaneous (under the skin) use only.
How often is Wegovy® taken?
You will administer your Wegovy® injection only once per week, at any time of day, with or without food.
Which doses of Wegovy® do you offer?
If you have never used Wegovy® before, you will follow a doctor-guided titration schedule. You will begin with a dose of 0.25mg per injection and, over a period of 4 to 5 months, slowly work up to the maximum 2.4mg per injection.
What’s the difference between Ozempic® and Wegovy®?
Both medications are GLP-1s (glucagon-like receptor agonists) and contain the same active ingredient (semaglutide). Since the two drugs have the same active ingredient, it is fair to ask: is Wegovy® the same as Ozempic®?
Wegovy® and Ozempic® are the same medications, sold under different brand names. The main differences are the amount of semaglutide in each pen (the dosage) and the prescribed use for each, as well as the guided titration schedule: Ozempic® is FDA approved for type 2 diabetes, with a target dosage of 2.0mg, while Wegovy® is FDA approved for weight loss, with a target dosage of 2.4mg.
Ozempic® is considered a safe and reliable alternative for Wegovy®, with many users reporting consistent outcomes. Historically, Ozempic® has also been prescribed when Wegovy® supplies are limited.
