Ozempic® Product Guide

Ozempic®, FDA approved to treat type 2 diabetes, contains the active ingredient semaglutide, a GLP-1 receptor agonist that has also been shown to reduce cardiometabolic risk factors and keep you fuller, longer.

The information presented here is only applicable for non-diabetics who have been prescribed Ozempic® after their AgelessRx prescriber deemed it appropriate.

Quick Tips

Here are some simple steps to help you get the most from each dose:

  • Refrigerate your pens upon arrival
  • Use with a reduced-calorie meal plan & exercise
  • Take Ozempic® on the same day each week
  • Can be taken with or without food
  • Rotate injection sites every week
  • Always dispose used pens in a sharps container

Getting Started

When you first receive your Ozempic® pens, follow proper storage guidelines to maintain the quality of the solution.

You will have to prime your pen when you first use it.

For each successive use, follow the instructions for properly administering Ozempic®.

Always set the dose according to your doctor-guided titration schedule.

Storage

To maintain the utmost quality, it is best to refrigerate your pens between 36°F and 46°F before using. Once they have been used, you may safely store your Ozempic® pens at room temperature (between 46°F and 86°F) for up to 56 days. If your pen has been stored below 36°F or above 86°F for an extended time, the pen and/or the solution may become ineffective. Always keep the pen cap on when not in use.

Ozempic® will arrive with a temperature tag to indicate whether it was exposed to brief (2 hours), moderate (12 hours), or prolonged (48 hours) temperatures during transit. If the temperature tag indicates prolonged exposure, please contact us immediately.

You may safely travel with your Ozempic® pens so long as the above conditions are met while traveling. Be sure to travel with a refrigerated case if necessary, and to bring your own sharps disposal container if you will not have access to one.

How to Prime Your Pen

Whether you are taking your first dose of Ozempic® or you’ve just started using a new Ozempic® pen, you will have to prime your pen before use to ensure that the solution will be properly administered.

To prime your pen, follow these instructions:

  • Apply a new needle to your pen
  • Turn the dose selector to the flow check symbol
  • Hold the plunger until it reads 0 again
  • The 0 must line up with the dose pointer
  • A drop of Ozempic® should appear at the needle tip

If no drop appears, repeat the above steps up to 6 times. If there is still no drop at the needle tip after 6 attempts, try changing the needle. If, after changing the needle, there is still no drop, stop use and contact AgelessRx to secure a replacement pen right away. Do not use your Ozempic® pen if priming fails.

How to Properly Administer Ozempic®

After you’ve successfully primed your Ozempic® pen and completed the initial use, follow these steps with each successive use:

Ozempic
  • Apply a new needle to your pen
  • Select the correct dosage on your pen
  • Insert the needle into a fatty layer of skin
  • Press & hold down the button at the end of the pen
  • Wait for the dose counter on the pen to reach 0
  • Count slowly to 6 before releasing the button & removing the needle

To avoid irritation, we recommend switching injection sites each week. You can take Ozempic® with or without food, and at any time of day, but it’s best to be as consistent as possible so you can get the best outcomes.

FAQs

What’s the difference between Ozempic® & Wegovy®?

Both medications are GLP-1s (glucagon-like receptor agonists) and contain the same active ingredient (semaglutide). Since the two drugs have the same active ingredient, it is fair to ask: is Wegovy® the same as Ozempic®?

Wegovy® and Ozempic® are the same medications, sold under different brand names. The main differences are the amount of semaglutide in each pen (the dosage) and the prescribed use for each, as well as the guided titration schedule: Ozempic® is FDA approved for type 2 diabetes, with a target dosage of 2.0mg, while Wegovy® is FDA approved for weight loss, with a target dosage of 2.4mg.

Ozempic® is considered a safe and reliable alternative for Wegovy®, with many users reporting consistent outcomes. Historically, Ozempic® has also been prescribed when Wegovy® supplies are limited.

What should I do If I miss a dose?

If you miss your scheduled day, just take your dose whenever you can next, so long as it’s within 5 days of the missed dose, then resume your normal dosing schedule. Never double up on doses if you missed one the previous week. We recommend setting a once-weekly reminder on your phone so you have the best opportunity to take Ozempic® as consistently as possible.

What do I do if the liquid in my Ozempic® pen is cloudy?

If the solution in your pen appears cloudy or discolored, do not use the pen and contact AgelessRx customer support.

How can I dispose of my used Ozempic® pens?

Always dispose of your Ozempic® pens in an FDA-cleared sharps container. Sharps containers can be reused and are often available for less than $10 at your local pharmacy.
