It’s that time of year again, and we’re not talking about the rollout of pumpkin-flavored everything. No, for us at AgelessRx, October marks the start of a month-long acknowledgement and celebration of the anti-aging space.
The season kicks off on the first of the month with Longevity Day. The UN International Day of Older Persons, as it was known at the time, was part of a more extensive campaign to raise awareness of the industry. This tradition, which began officially in 2013, brought longevity research activists worldwide into the fold for a focused conversation about improving healthy longevity for the global population. What followed was a series of events and promotions throughout the month aimed at raising awareness of biomedical research of aging.
Now, following that same tradition, longevity day has come to signify the start of an open season in which brands, non-profits, and healthcare associations operating in the anti-aging sphere organize remotely or in-person in support of longevity advocacy.
But the perennial best party in town for the anti-aging industry is most certainly the Eurosymposium on Healthy Aging that has been organized by HEALES, in partnership with the International Longevity Alliance (ILA). This year the symposium was held on October 1 (via zoom) and dealt specifically with “Enhancing clinical trials for anti-aging therapies”.
You can view the biennial meeting here. What about the rest of the month? If you are involved in the longevity space on some level, we encourage you to organize additional online events and promotions in the format that best suits you. Those who do are welcome to reach out to the ILA board as a collaborator on the campaign.
In addition, organizers are eligible to receive the “Longevity Activism and Awareness Prize” for the best event and/or promotion of the campaign, a recognition for which anyone can submit nominations. The first prize is $3000, the second prize is $1000.
Let us know how you’ll be celebrating and advocating for Longevity this month in the comments!
